'Red Dead Redemption' Release Date, News & Update: Title Out In June; Is The New Game Really A Prequel?

Since the news about "Red Dead Redemption 2" leaks, the hype about the anticipated game continues to grow. Many fans are dying to keep their hands on the sequel or prequel of "Red Dead Redemption" but reports about the title remain unconfirmed. However, there are high chances that the game will be coming soon.

Parent Herald previously reported that the details of "Red Dead Redemption 2" including its release date would be announced at E3 2016. Many are hoping for big surprises, especially that Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick hinted that they would be there in a "big way." However, in a separate report from Parent Herald, fans should not expect much for "Red Dead Redemption 2" in the said event because it might just disappoint them.

Per Lazygamer, Take-Two Interactive, the mother company of Rockstar who is working on "Red Dead Redemption 2" always comes with big surprises to their fans but not Rockstar. Rockstar usually prefers to present their games on their own terms.

Fans are now confused on what to believe. However, the new reports will surely make "Red Dead Redemption" fans jump for joy. According to AutoMobile, "Red Dead Redemption 2" is coming out on June 25. The upcoming title will take part in the same region and will include two characters from the first game and a new one.

Meanwhile, there are reports that "Red Dead Redemption 2" will be a prequel to the first game. Alphr reported that a Reddit post revealed that "RDR 2" would take place 12 years prior to the first "Red Dead Redemption" title. The said post is already deleted. However, the ending of the first game is suggesting that there will be a sequel.

The report notes that it is difficult to fit in a prequel to the wide "Red Dead" universe. For instance, "Red Dead Revolver" and "Red Dead Redemption" are loosely connected. On the other hand, some doubt that the upcoming title will be a "Red Dead Redemption" title or another entry in the "Red Dead" franchise.
