'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt' Star Ellie Kemper Announces Pregnancy On ‘The Tonight Show’

After several failed attempts at lying about her pregnancy, Ellie Kemper has finally confirmed that she's expecting her first child with writer husband Michael Koman. The "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" star made the announcement recently, while guesting on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon."

During Wednesday's episode of NBC's long-running late night talk show, Ellie Kemper joyously declared, "I'm pregnant." Fallon then leaned close to Kemper's stomach and said, "Hi, baby! Hi! I can't wait until you see the show. Your mommy's very funny and very talented."

Ellie Kemper Tried To Hide Her Pregnancy

According to E! Online, Ellie Kemper's pregnancy wasn't much of a concern during production of the second season of "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt." However, things got a little bit challenging near the end of taping as Ellie's titular character was supposed to ride a roller coaster.

"Because it was still so early on, we decided I would just tell people I have a back injury and that's why I can't ride the roller coaster," Ellie Kemper mused. "Someone said, 'Oh, what's wrong?' And words escaped me. 'I sprained my spine.' You can't do that! I'm a bad liar."

This became Kemper's modus operandi for the next several weeks, but maintaining character was so hard to do. Ellie Kemper would routinely do things that people with back injuries can't normally do.

"At the wrap party, I completely forgot," Ellie Kemper told Fallon. "You saw me dance! I was dancing and my friend Ali came up and she was like, 'How's your back?' and I was like, 'It's OK. The doctor said dancing could be good.' It was terrible. I think everyone could see right through it."

Kemper Appreciative Of 'Unbreakable' Cast And Crew

In a recent sitdown with People, Kemper touched on numerous topics such as Kimmy's wardrobe in season 2 and the time when she was Jon Hamm's acting student in high school. Ellie Kemper also took the opportunity to praise the cast and crew of "Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" for persevering through rough working conditions in New York just to create a fun-filled second installment.

"Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt" season two will premiere on Netflix on April 15. Viewers on the West Coast can watch Ellie Kemper in the series starting at midnight while East Coast viewers will have to wait until 3 in the morning.
