Teens Today Are More Timid And Fearful

Teens used to be wild and free. It is at this age when one wants to try everything from drinking, smoking, clubbing and more. However, according to a new report, teenagers today are so timid.

Teens More Timid and Fearful

According to Tes, the teenagers today are so different from the teens years ago. The youth now is more timid and fearful that they miss out valuable experiences. It blames the teachers for discouraging the young ones from exploring the world and having fun.

"Generation K" are anxious. Seventeen percent of high school students consider suicide. Meanwhile, in England, teenagers who harm themselves increased by threefold.

In fact, the latest report from the Office for National Statistics revealed that a quarter of individuals under 25 don't drink at all. The rate for of heavy drinking has also dropped to 15 percent in the past decade.

According to Noreena, the youth who belongs to "Generation K" arrived during the economic decline where job insecurity rises, inequality increases and the luster of financial optimism has lost. Seventy-nine percent of them are worried about not getting a job while the other 72 percent worries about debt. They are also worried about terrorism, climate change and more.

Smoking, Drinking, Clubbing Not Cool Anymore

Parent Herald previously reported that the rate of smoking and drinking has also dropped among high schools. Binged drinking dropped by five percent while teens using illicit drugs like ecstasy reduced.

Per Tes, girls are now afraid to go to bars because of fears that someone will take advantage of them. They associate it with sexual assault. However, the only concern of the author is, these teens might have missed the best years of their lives due to fearsand anxiety. The blame was put on teachers who scare their students about the evils of the world.

There is no doubt that teens today have different perspectives than before. Does their lack of interest to drink, smoke or go to bar make them better? Do you agree that teachers should not overdo their warnings so teens will still have the guts to explore and enjoy? Share your thoughts below.
