Weight Loss Barriers: What Is The Greatest Barrier That Prohibits Weight Loss?

Despite the fact that there are countless ways to lose weight, most people continually struggle as they manage to gain back what they've lost. Recent studies reveal that one of the most effective weight loss regimens is through mental conditioning.

Diet Plans

Most weight loss tips involve intense workouts and strict diets. Though these diet tips may be proven effective, experts suggest that it is unhealthy.

Exercise and dieting is said to be effective, but once the individual would stop pursuing the diet plan, excessive weight gain usually follows. A good weight loss plan does not only help the individual shed off extra weight, but it also provides permanent results as per Psych Central.

Study Points To Various Factors

According to Yahoo News Health, a survey conducted by Orlando Health revealed one of the toughest barriers when it comes to weight loss. 1,005 adults participated in the survey wherein it was revealed that 31 percent stated that they find it hard to be consistent with the exercise program.

26 percent mentioned that it is hard for them to follow the diet plan, while 17 percent cited the financial struggle of keeping up with a healthy lifestyle. The remaining 10 percent of the participants then mentioned that psychological barriers are the most difficult to deal with.

Emotions Are A Factor

Another survey from American Psychological Association revealed that emotions are one of the biggest influences when it comes to diet. Stress eating is one of the hardest barriers to conquer as it greatly affects the individual's overall well-being.

In a survey participated by more than 1,300 psychologist which was conducted by Consumer Reports National Research Center revealed that it was revealed that emotional, behavioral and the individual's lifestyle were among the highest diet barriers. Emotions can greatly influence the individual's eating habits and rational function, which can prohibit the willingness to exercise and eat healthy.
