PlayStation 4.5 Price, Release News & Update: GameStop Exec Anticipating PS4K 'Imminent' Launch In 2016

The launch of PlayStation 4.5, also known as PS4.5 or PS4K, is imminent and the new gaming console is going to come out this year. This is the belief of an executive from GameStop, the leading game retailer in America.

GameStop's Tony Bartel voiced his thoughts about the PlayStation 4.5 during a meet with company investors. While Bartel said that the company has yet to make earnings projections for incoming gaming technology, he believes the PS4K, as well as the Nintendo NX, are launching soon.

"We are very pleased to see the introduction of technology like virtual reality and rumored new console launches, some of which seem imminent," he said, per Gamespot. Bartel declined to reveal further details. "We know more than we can share," he told the investors.

In March, speculations abound about Sony's plan of releasing a powerful new console with 4K resolution technology. It is intended to complement its PlayStation VR (PSVR), Parent Herald previously reported. The PSVR is due to in stores in October.

Wall Street Journal confirmed the existence of a powerful new PlayStation that can render virtual reality games better than the current console. It is also expected to perform faster and it's more streamlined for the upcoming games in development.

Price points for the PS4K is pegged at $400, roughly the same as the PS4 when it was first launched. However, some gamers argue that it might be better to wait for the PlayStation 5, which is also rumored to be in the works as well. It is speculated to come out anytime from 2018 to 2020.

There's a lot of anticipation building up as Sony remains quiet about the rumors. Gamers expect more details when the company presents during the E3 event in June in Los Angeles.
