"Criminal Minds" Season 11 consistently made it to the top 10 in the U.S. drama with viewers of about 12.04 million. Many are happy that "Criminal Minds" will return for another season.

'Criminal Minds' Wrapped Up With A Cliffhanger

Parent Herald previously reported that "Criminal Minds" Season 11 may end up with a cliffhanger. At that time, the show had not been renewed, but the plot of their finale episode was filled with suspense that one could tell there should be another season.

Per Inquisitr, fans expected for "Criminal Minds" season 12 and the showrunners expected for a renewal too. There are no issues about rating as "Criminal Minds" is consistent in maintaining a high rating.

Per the report, CBS and ABC had to sort out a new licensing deal. Another concern that delayed the renewal was Shemar Moore's exit, which puts the show at risk.

However, no matter what the concern is, it is great that finally fans are assured that "Criminal Minds" will return for another season. Many are excited if a new agent will be introduced in the next season.

What To Expect In 'Criminal Minds' Season 12.

When Shemar Moore left "Criminal Minds," the BAU team was down with one good agent. There were talks if a new agent will replace him, but Erica Messer declined to add a new character to replace Moore because she knew it's not the best move to do so at the time.

Erica Messer wanted fans and the other "Criminal Minds" characters to deal with their loneliness of losing Derek. However, this doesn't mean that there will be no replacement.

In a separate report from Parent Herald, Messer might introduce a new BAU agent in "Criminal Minds" season 12. "It [introducing a new BAU member] feels like something that would be natural to do in a premiere, just as we did for almost everybody else who has ever come in," Messer hinted about the new BAU agent.
