J.K. Rowling Draws a Tattoo Design For a Fan That's Battling Self-Harm and Depression

The "Harry Potter" series author, J.K. Rowling touched the hearts of millions by taking them on a magical adventure. This time, J.K. Rowling touched the hearts of her fans by helping out one of her fans that's battling depression.

According to Indy 100, one of her fans named Kate tagged J.K. Rowling on one of her Twitter posts. Kate mentioned that she wanted to have the words "Expecto Patronum," which means "I have a guardian angel" in Latin. Though it may seem like a regular tattoo, Kate mentioned that she'll have it placed on her body part which she'd cut the most.

Just like most teenagers suffering self-harm and depression, Kate wanted to change and fight the urge to cut herself. Part of Kate's which is to have the "Expecto Patronum" tattooed. To make the words more meaningful, she asked J.K. Rowling to write it for her as she wished to have the words inked with J.K. Rowling's handwriting.

To her surprise, J.K. Rowling responded to her plea. She didn't just write the spell for her, but J.K. Rowling also left her an inspiring message. J.K. Rowling makes it a point to have a close relationship with her fans. Her gesture to help someone with fighting a mental and emotional battle is definitely life changing as teenagers today are more prone to mental health problems.

According to Parent Herald, parents should make it a point to be sensitive enough to listen to and monitor their teens. Self-harm and youth suicide is taking its toll and part of America's leading mental health concerns. Parents should check their children's behavioral patterns, especially in teens.

J.K. Rowling is not only known for her literature masterpieces, but also for her gesture in encouraging her fans to fight their mental health struggles. Parents should do the same when it comes to their kids. Children that are trapped in battling self-harm and depression need all the help they could have, especially coming from their parents.
