'Justice League' Rumors: Will New Team Rise On The CW With 'Supergirl', 'The Flash' And Tom Welling?

Could a "Justice League" be forming on television? Now that "Supergirl" is moving to The CW to join "The Flash" and "Arrow," a potential league of superheroes could be hatched by the network. In fact, the buzz around this has begun and fans are hoping that the network would consider bringing Tom Welling back as Superman.

A post on a fan page for "Smallville" Season 11 on Facebook suggests that a "Justice League" could be happening on The CW. It features the images of the three superheroes - Arrow, The Flash and Supergirl - who are already headlining in their own series on the network

Fans are actually warming up to the idea of a "Justice League" for TV, but they also have a few suggestions if the network is listening. "Just bring back Tom Welling and we got are Justice League so far," said Jason Barnard in the comments. Welling starred as the teenage Superman on "Smallville," which ran on The CW from 2001 to 2011. Thus, the network already has access and rights to the character.

However, some fans in the discussion are seeing potential problems with a "Justice League" for TV involving all three superheroes. They cite that "Supergirl" actually takes place in a different earth from "The Flash" and "Arrow."

However, the show's writers were able to make a crossover happen between "The Flash" and "Supergirl" when the latter ran on CBS for its first season. The fans are confident the writers can improve on this storyline if a "Justice League" for TV should happen.

It should be interesting to note that back in 2014, Stephen Amell, who is the star of "Arrow" hinted that there is already a "Justice League" on the small screen. It comprises his group and the superheroes from "The Flash" and another show, "Legends of Tomorrow."

"We are creating a Justice League on TV for us," he said per Comic Book Resources. "The Justice League elements of it are very present on our shows already," he added. However, Amell stressed that their version of the "Justice League" is different and separate from the DC Cinematic Universe that already exists in the big screen. "I don't think there is a logistical reality to us participating in the feature side," he said, referencing the movies.

Meanwhile, as for Tom Welling, reprising his role as Superman has been broached before on "Supergirl." But the actor said no one has asked him to do it yet and it looks like he's moved on from the character. "I don't know. It would be kind of odd. I don't know who he is at that point," Tom Welling said per Cinema Blend. Here he is talking about it in the video below:
