National Missing Children's Day: FBI Introduced a Mobile Application to Find Missing Children

The alarming numbers of missing children in the United States continually increase. For the "National Missing Children's Day" a new technology was introduced to minimize and eradicate the abductions and disappearances.

The Christian Science Monitor highlighted the new technology that was specifically developed to help authorities track missing children and bring them home. It was mentioned that in lieu of the "National Missing Children's Day" law enforcement including the FBI raised awareness on how to deal with the increasing dangers of missing children.

They came up with a system which is linked to appropriate tools that can track and bring the kids back home. In a statistics released by the FBI, one child is being reported as missing every 40 seconds in the United States alone. The numbers continually increase as years moved forward, which is becoming alarming and raised concern.

One of the tools being used to track a missing child is the AMBER alerts which can be installed on a smartphone. To make things easier for the parents, the social media application stores personal information of the child, and other family members making it easier for the FBI to get the needed information. The smartphone application is sponsored by the FBI.

"We encourage the parents to have a plan. It's crucial hours," FBI Supervising Special Agent James Lewis told CBS. "If your child goes missing from the mall or the park, you don't want to be fumbling around for a picture or description to give to the law enforcement agency."

FBI's smartphone application that is designed to help them track and rescue missing children can be of great help for both the FBI agents and the person filing the report. Though most parents dread the uncontrollable movement of technological advancement and the social media, it does have several benefits including information dissemination.
