The "Kong: Skull Island" star has just reacted to the "Captain Marvel" casting news and it looks like she has confused Carol Danvers for Chris Evans' Steve Rogers/Captain America!

"I Can't Wait To Replace Chris Evans!"

Brie Larson recently spoke to MTV, where she was asked how she felt about being considered for the lead role in "Captain Marvel." The actress appeared confused by the news, asking, "Who's Captain Marvel?" and wondering if the character is a man. Brie Larson even joked that she thought she would never get to play a male role in films and quipped that she is looking forward to replacing Chris Evans as Captain America.

It certainly looks like Brie Larson is joking her way out of the situation where she has to confirm the "Captain Marvel" news. There is a possibility that Brie Larson has already been told to not to share any details by the notoriously secretive Marvel camp. In the meantime, fans are already wondering if "Captain Marvel" will be directed by a female director.

Will A Woman Direct "Captain Marvel?"

The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that there are two female directors being considered to take on "Captain Marvel." The names mentioned in the report about Brie Larson's possible casting were "The Babadook" director Jennifer Kent and Niki Caro of "Whale Rider." There is a huge possibility that the studio is looking for a female director to helm the film that will launch Marvel's ultimate superheroine. This would round out an all-female crew, since the "Captain Marvel" screenplay will be written by Nicole Perlman and Meg LeFauve. "Captain Marvel" is scheduled for release on March 8, 2019.
