‘The Elder Scrolls 6’ Release Date, News & Update: Bethesda Developing Black Marsh Civil War For PlayStation 5 (PS5), XBox Two? Production Confirmed At E3 2016?

"The Elder Scrolls 6" is well and alive and Bethesda may be developing the purported Black Marsh iteration for PlayStation 5 and XBox Two. Ongoing production work for "The Elder Scrolls 6" was confirmed by Bethesda Game Studios at the E3 2016, during which "Skyrim" Remastered was also announced.

According to IGN, "The Elder Scrolls 6" confirmation at the E3 2016 came from developer Bethesda Game Studios head Todd Howard. "The Elder Scrolls 6" was humorously called the "elephant in the room" by Todd Howard by way of acknowledging fan anticipation for the "Skyrim" sequel.

'The Elder Scrolls 6' Ties In With PlayStation 5 and XBox Two Release

On the E3 2016 stream cited by IGN, Todd Howard dropped a few curious hints about "The Elder Scrolls 6," which link to availability on PlayStation 5 and XBox Two.  One is that "The Elder Scrolls 6" will not be seeing an immediate release any time soon.

A second "The Elder Scrolls 6" hint is that Todd Howard says that the technology will be new to fans. "I could sit here and explain the game to you, and you would say, 'That sounds like you don't even have the technology,' " Todd Howard said of what they are doing with "The Elder Scrolls 6."

Fans may deduce from this bit by Todd Howard on how long a wait "The Elder Scrolls 6" will require. "That'll make sense many years from now," Todd Howard said of the timings of their three large projects, including "The Elder Scrolls 6."

'Skyrim' Remastered Fills Fan Plate During 'The Elder Scrolls 6' Wait

While all roads - timing, technology, breadth of development - seem to lead to a PlayStation 5, XBox Two release for "The Elder Scrolls 6," fans will at least have "Skyrim" Remastered to keep busy with. A few feared that the leak on a "Skyrim" Remastered prioritization by Bethesda at E3 2016 would turn off the tap for "The Elder Scrolls 6" information at the event.

'Skyrim' Remastered, 'The Elder Scrolls 6,' PlayStation 5, XBox Two Availabilities

Still Todd Howard gave as well as he could considering "The Elder Scrolls 6" on PlayStation 5 and XBox Two would truly be worth the wait. Bethesda launches "Skyrim" Remastered this October according to The Verge, while "The Elder Scrolls 6," if developed for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Two, could see a 2018 release at the earliest and a 2020 release at the latest
