‘Wolverine 3’ Air Date, News & Update: Title Revealed For Hugh Jackman's Final Appearance As Logan? Clawed Mutant To Die? Sequel Setting Up X-23 To Take Over?

Wolverine 3 titles were leaked for Hugh Jackman's final appearance as mutant James Howlett, aka Logan. While X-Men fans worry about the future for the mutant after Hugh Jackman retires with Wolverine 3, the presence of a young Laura Kinney may indicate that X-23 is being set up to take over.

Bustle cites Crunchbace in reporting that two domain names were registered 20th Century Fox, which could point to one of the titles for Wolverine 3. One possible title is "Wolverine: Weapon X" based on the domain www.wolverineweaponx.com.

The other possible title for Wolverine 3 is far darker, "Wolverine: The Death Of Logan." This Wolverine 3 supposition is based on the domain name www.thedeathoflogan.com.

While the latter may render Wolverine 3 as a game-changer for the popular X-Men member, death in the title may be figurative rather than literal. At least X-Men fans have that hope.

One other source of hope is a mutant addition in Wolverine 3. According to ComicBookMovie.com, Wolverine 3 set photos shows a young girl who appears to have been shot in the heart but seems to have the same healing power as Wolverine.

The media outlet points out that the girl in the Wolverine 3 photos, albeit younger than expected, may be none other than Laura Kinney or X-23. In the X-Men Universe X-23 is the clone of Wolverine and has the exact same powers as Logan.

Fans would recall that the post-credits teaser for "X-Men: Apocalypse" showed Nathaniel Essex carting off a vial of blood from Wolverine from the Weapon X facility in his ESSEX CORP briefcase. Nathaniel Essex, or Mr. Sinister, could possibly play a hand in the creation of X-23 and both could appear in Wolverine 3.

ComicBookMovie.com cites a casting call for Wolverine 3, which involves a young girl who sounds a lot like a young Logan. To be exact, the description hashed out by The Hashtag Show seems to be looking for an X-23 to join Logan on his final adventures on Wolverine 3.

The question of succession for Hugh Jackman as Wolverine is still up in the air as Digital Spy reports that both producer Simon Kinberg and director Bryan Singer agree that recasting would be next to impossible. Could X-23 then be the creative solution to getting a Wolverine fix without necessarily replacing Hugh Jackman and his legacy?

Luckily, fans won't have much to wait before seeing Hugh Grant joined by Richard E Grant, Elise Neal, Eriq Lasalle, Stephen Merchant, Patrick Stewart and the mysterious X-23 for Wolverine 3. 20th Century Fox is scheduled to release Wolverine 3 to theaters on March 3, 2017.
