Teeth Pulling Using Drones Getting Popular Among Parents; What Do Dentists Say About This Trend?

There's a popular trend happening among parents who are taking teeth pulling to a higher level. Without having to go to the dentist, parents are now using drones to wiggle out a child's tooth loose. Many of them actually share what they do online.

Using one end of a string to tie around the child's loose tooth, parents attach the string's other end to the drone, which is then controlled to fly away until the tooth pops. How this trend started is anybody's guess, but it's not just happening in America, per Popular Mechanics. Here's one guy who pulled a child's teeth using a drone and recorded everything on video:

Other parents, who might have daredevil streaks, make use of rockets, remote-controlled helicopters or actual helicopters, as Independent reports. The dad, Rick Rahim, who is also a professional pilot, insisted that his method was perfectly safe. He even recommended that parents ought to "do fun, creative stuff" with their children. He believes that kids should have fond memories like this with their parents.

But what do dentists think of this teeth pulling trend that's increasing among parents based on the number of shared videos on YouTube? Mary Hayes, a pediatric dentist, advises using "common sense" if a dad decides to pull his child teeth with a drone, per Business Insider.

It is important to make sure that the properly loose and not just starting to become loose. The child must also not be forced to do this no matter how badly the parents will think it's fun. Hayes somehow echoes Rahim's idea that this would be a good bonding moment for the child and the parent.

Back in December 2015, the American Dental Association posted that they do not condone the practice on their Facebook page. It also advised parents to consult with a dentist regarding their child's teeth.
