'Wreck-It-Ralph 2' Release Date Announced: Original Team to Remain, Big Budget Sequels In Disney’s Plan?

Walt Disney has announced the release date of "Wreck-It-Ralph 2," as reported by Independent. This is in line with Disney's current trend of making sequels to its big blockbusters.

Walt Disney announced the production of "Wreck-It-Ralph 2" via a Facebook Video on the Disney Page. The director of the original movie Rich Moore and screenwriter Phil Johnston are retained in their creative roles in the sequel.

John C. Reilly also continues to work with the team lending his voice to the confused or rather conflicted good guy/bad guy character.

The original movie's plot saw Reilly's giant-fisted destroyer turn hero instead of being the destined villain in an arcade game. He ends up saving the day. This sets him off on an adventure across the entire arcade itself. He also enters the world of Sugar Rush's kart-racing antics.

He meets Vanellope von Schweetz in that world who is wise and charming. This character is voiced by Sarah Silverman. This character is also set to come back in "Wreck-It-Ralph 2."

The new film will take the edge of a digital age as Ralph breaks the internet! "Wreck-It-Ralph 2" is set to release on the 9th of March 2018.

Another movie that we can look forward to is Disney's animated project Moana. Dwayne Johnson will lend voice to the character of fearsome demi-God Maui set in the South Pacific. There is a wide spread speculation whether Disney fans will welcome the sequel of Ralph, according to Forbes. Will the sequel reach the success of the original film? The original had grossed $281 million worldwide.

It is predicted that Wreck-it-Ralph 2 will hit theaters before the sequel of Frozen. Frozen 2 is yet to be released. This will make Ralph 2 the first Disney animated film in a sequel which is made intentionally after Fantasia 2000, released in 1999.

With projects like "Wreck-It-Ralph 2," we can conclude that Disney is taking efforts to make sequels to its classic animated films.
