"Outlander" Season 3 updates from the show's cast and crew reveal that the Starz time traveler series will begin production for the next season in September. According to Scotland Now, the upcoming season will be based on Diana Gabaldon's third book "Voyager."

While adapting a TV series from a successful book series can be very difficult and complex, showrunner Ron Moore said that "Outlander" Season 3 is already proving to be "much easier" than Season 2. The show recently faced criticism when it had to change quite a lot of things from Gabaldon's book "Dragonfly in Amber" in Season 2.

Moore also explained that adapting "Voyager" into "Outlander" Season 3 is easy in terms of its storyline, but the production is much more complex than that of Season 2. The upcoming season will be dealing with ships and Zap2It notes that the sea voyage will be filmed in South Africa.

Sam Heughan and Caitriona Balfe will also begin production for "Outlander" Season 2 in September. Much of the upcoming season will be filmed in Scotland and the rest will be in Paris.

Moore also admitted that there are no plans to shoot "Outlander" Season 3 in the U.S. yet. Many fans are also looking forward to the actors who will be playing young Ian, older Fergus and adult Lord John.

In the meantime, tune into the "Outlander" Season 2 finale titled "Dragonfly in Amber," which airs on Saturday, July 9 on Starz.
