Nintendo NX Update: Mystery Console Features Haptics; New Design Contest With Up To $10K Up For Grabs

Legendary game maker Nintendo has already fueled further speculation regarding its newest handheld gaming console. Many are also expecting for the newest console to be part of the soon-to-be-revealed Nintendo NX.

The patent was apparently filed by the company famous for the Super Mario Bros., Donkey Kong , and Legend of Zelda series to name a few way back in December last year. However, it was only until recently that actual black and white images of what the Nintendo NX console would look like have surfaced online, according to Pocket-Lint.

The mysterious NIntendo NX console would have speakers integrated into the gaming device, as well as an added accessory which vibrates in tuned with the speakers when in use. This would have a huge impact to fans of NIntendo's games as it could mean no external speakers are necessary for that interactive gaming experience.

The idea may not be super new to experienced gamers, however not too many handheld gaming consoles would have the same feature as the new Nintendo NX. Also, the Nintendo patent information suggests a bit of haptic response feedback upon using the touchscreen. Just like a smartphone, nice.

Further update on the NIntendo NX leaked patent also shows a form of thumbstick layout. It would also have the standard buttons, which can be felt on either of the console screen's side.

Meanwhile, the company has been pretty busy lately with a recent announcement for a t-shirt design contest, in a related Business Insider AU post. Nintendo has tapped on clothing company Uniqlo to attract design talents for the new competition, with the theme "Nintendo".

Designers are invited to send in their entries as soon as possible until closing day by the end of August this year. The rules are also simple, as there is no age limit and joining it is free.

The submissions must be original, of course, and they must involve Nintendo characters from their game franchises such as Legend of Zelda, Pokemon, Tetris, and so forth. The ultimate winner gets to take home a $10K cash prize, while the runner-up would be going home with $3K.

What's more fun is that the winners would also have boastful rights to additionally receiving autographed NIntendo NX consoles from Mr. Shigeru Miyamoto himself. Hey, how cool is that?
