'Halo Wars 2' Release Date, News & Update: Single Player Campaign Details Leaked?

New details have emerged regarding the highly anticipated "Halo Wars 2." This time, the leak reveals details on the "Halo Wars 2"  single player campaign.

Since publisher Microsoft, "Halo" franchise custodians 343 Industries and established UK-based RTS developers Creative Assembly have announced the latest entry in the "Halo" universe, not much has been said about the single player campaign.

Certainly, a notable absence of details on the story for which "Halo" is famed kept a lot of fans keen to know. Primarily details on if the next chapter in the "Halo" story will be a significant progression or (as some critics of 343 Industries argue) may be more story filler are on the watchlist.

The newest "Halo Wars 2" leak, however, is better than expected. Likely "Halo Wars 2" will expand the universe as fans have hoped.

As reported by WCCF Tech at the 2016 Rooster Expo, Microsoft and Creative Assembly have begun to reveal aspects of the "Halo Wars 2" single player campaign to the public. Although Microsoft has yet to officially release any media of the "Halo Wars 2" single player campaign, Youtuber IZUNIY was able to capture one of the campaign cut scenes.

As reported on PC Gamer the "Halo Wars 2" video the crew of the UNSC Spirit of Fire are awaking from cryosleep. The crew, arriving at and orbiting The Ark, are immediately met head on with a new threat.

The impending confrontation shows Spartans squaring off (with some difficulty) against the new Covenant splinter group - The Banished. We do know from previous "Halo Wars 2" information that The Banished will play the significant antagonistic role in the story.

The Banished, frustrated with the events that followed "Halo" 3 have decided to take matters into their own hands. Bad news for the UNSC Spirit of Fire crew but great for "Halo Wars 2" gameplay.

Halo Wars 2 is scheduled for release on Xbox One and Windows 10 under Microsoft's play anywhere program, February next year. Although the Play Anywhere program will allow gamers to play on Windows 10 and continue on Xbox One (and vice versa), cross platform multiplayer will not be supported.
