Value for Education Ignites Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal To Raise His Stand in Prioritizing the Youth’s Education

The youth is the future's real hope. That is why to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, in order for the future not to fail, quotes to never "mess around with the youth and education."

In an interview Kejriwal had with Talk to AK, he questioned the Union government's decision of reducing the Central education budget. He added that by doing so would only mean ruining not just their youths' future but also the country's future stability as a whole.

Kejriwal also stated that despite the Bharatiya Janata Party government's reduction of the education budget, one of the things that their government is prioritizing now is Delhi's education. In fact, Kejriwal's government has doubled their education budget from Rs 5,000 crore to Rs 10,000 crore. The BJP government on the other hand has recently reduced the education budget from Rs 82,000 crore to Rs 68,000 crore.

With the increase in the Delhi's education budget, toilets in over 1,100 schools that needs to be repaired have been fixed. "We have repaired the toilets in almost all the 1,100 schools which come under the Delhi government, Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said Sunday as noted by Asianage.

As posted in The Economic Times, aside from the government's educational improvements, Kejriwal's two-hour-long interview also focused on the other government's key priority, which is its health sector. According to him, one of the first things the government approved as a part of its health sector's redesigning plan made all medicines and tests in Delhi available for free.

Kejriwal also emphasizes in the interview the need to improve the power and water supply in Delhi especially that city's power rates are considered the "lowest in the country." "If a family in Delhi consumes 400 units, the cost would be Rs 1,370. The same would be over $s 2,500 in Gujarat, Rs 4300 in Mumbai, Rs 2,927 in Kolkata and Rs 2,690 in Punjab," Kejriwal added.
