Deadline reports that "Designated Survivor" will have a panel at the San Diego Comic Con on July 23 and it's expected to draw huge crowds along with "The Walking Dead" and "Doctor Strange." "Designated Survivor" features Kiefer Sutherland as Tom Kirkman, who works as the head of the Housing and Urban Development in the U.S. government. His character is described as nerdy, per The Hollywood Reporter. But then an unfortunate incident has taken place, leaving Tom Kirkman to assume the role of the U.S. president.

While he hesitates to take on the task, given his lack of political experience, as Tom has never been voted into office, has actually had no choice. The U.S. government has been crippled due to a terror attack and his as the designated survivor automatically mandates him to lead the country. "Designated Survivor" is the official term given to the line of succession in government, per The Washington Post.
