'Trainspotting 2' Latest News, Cast & Updates; Danny Boyle Returns With The Boys In Time For 20th Anniversary

Director Danny Boyle is back with the boys for the sequel to the 1996 critical hit film, Trainspotting. This time, the guys would be filling in crazy, but more mature roles in "Trainspotting 2".

In a really short, exclusive clip, "Trainspotting 2" shows Sick Boy, Spud, Begbie, and Renton standing side by side near a set of train tracks, according to The Verge. Although the boys are already confirmed reprising their roles from the first Trainspotting film, the sequel "Trainspotting 2" is set in the world of adult entertainment as the gist of the new film is based on Irvine Welsh's second novel, Porno.

The Story So Far In "Trainspotting 2"

Of course, there's the side story of Sick Boy getting deeper into drugs in "Trainspotting 2". Yet, he decides to dwell into the dirty industry to make the most out of his life as an addict. Renton still tries to help him out, and gets entangled in his own set of troubles even if he's in the process of making a fresh start. The rest of the gang: Spud tries his hand at quitting his addiction, as Begbie deals with his anger towards his old friends while in prison.

The noted British black comedy-drama-crime film also takes place at least 10 years after Trainspotting 1, and actually has Irvine Welsh, the author of Porno, starring in it alongside the original cast. What's nice about the people in "Trainspotting 2" is that of Ewan McGregor and director Danny Boyle reconciling after a fallout some years ago.

In the meantime, filming for "Trainspotting 2" had been underway since May this year, with a release date in January next year in the U.K. and the U.S. by February.

So, expectant fans are well on their way to experience the cinematic genius of Danny Boyle and the rest of the cast in "Trainspotting 2". Stay tuned for more details soon.
