‘Red Dead Redemption 2’ Rumors, Latest News & Updates: ‘RDR 2’ Release Date, Location And Plot Revealed Despite Uncertain Development And Release

Despite the uncertainties that plagued the development and release of "Red Dead Redemption 2," many fans are still hoping for the game's highly anticipated launch at the 2016 Gamescom Expo in Cologne, Germany this August. Unfortunately, there are also strong claims suggesting that a Gamescom reveal is not actually on the card of Rockstar Games or its parent company, Take-Two Interactive.

Following "Red Dead Redemption 2" no-show at the 2016 Electronic Entertainment Expo (E3) in Los Angeles in June, avid "RDR" fans had a glimmer of hope when Take-Two Interactive announced its participation at the 2016 Gamescom Expo. However, fans should not set their hopes too high as Parent Herald previously learned that Rockstar Games won't be present at the event.

Rockstar Games Won't Reveal 'Red Dead Redemption 2' Until April 2017

Since fans remained hopeful for the potential unveiling of "Red Dead Redemption 2," Ecumenical News revealed that there may be no new Rockstar Games, "RDR 2" included, until April 2017. But there were also speculations claiming "RDR 2" has been under development for more than four years and will be released in the fall of 2017.

Several reports also hinted that "Red Dead Redemption 2" will feature more playable characters and will be played in a "larger open world," as per Morning Ledger. For more details about the much-awaited "RDR 2," continue reading below.

'Red Dead Redemption 2' Rumored Release Date

In recent years, there have been incessant rumors claiming that Rockstar Games will be releasing a new "Red Dead" but six years have gone and no "Red Dead" sequel has materialized. But according to the calculations of PC Games, 2016 seemed to be the potential release year for "Red Dead Redemption 2," noting the 6-year interval between the release of "Red Dead Revolver" in 2004 and "Red Dead Redemption" in 2010.

Rockstar Games, however, reportedly announced "Red Dead Redemption 2" release date via a trailer in November with a concluding fade-to-black words that read, "May 2017." Rumors about the game's release further intensified when Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick announced that Rockstar Games is currently "working on exciting future projects that will be revealed soon," Daily Express revealed.

'Red Dead Redemption 2' Rumored Location

A map was recently leaked as the potential setting for "Red Dead Redemption 2." The said has revealed Blackwater settlement, which is also featured in "RDR."

Based on the insiders of TechRadar, the massive new area will feature huge plains and mountainous areas. Additionally, the settlement also offers a "bayou swamp region" to the south east. So, does it mean the main character will be able to swim?

'Red Dead Redemption 2' Rumored Plotline

Since the new "Red Dead Redemption 2" location lacked the train tracks from its predecessor, this suggests that the new "Red Dead" game won't be a sequel but a prequel. In fact, rumors have it that "RDR2" will depict the tale of John Marston in his younger days but there were also claimed that the new "Red Dead" game will follow the adventures of Marston's son, Jack.

Meanwhile, Rockstar Games has yet to officially announce if it would be releasing "Red Dead Redemption 2." So, fans should take these reports as mere speculations until Rockstar's confirmation.
