‘Supergirl’ Season 2 Cast & Spoilers: Calista Flockhart Demoted To Recurring Role? Star Has Issues With Location?

"Supergirl" Season 2 is not going without Cat Grant. It has now been confirmed that Calista Flockhart is indeed returning to the sophomore season after the actress has reached a compromise with the management.

Calista Flockhart has signed in for "Supergirl" Season 2, however, she has been demoted to a recurring role from being a series regular. According to Deadline, since the series is changing hands from CBS to CW, the production is being moved to Vancouver, Canada. Being in the same location with the rest of the CW heroes would cut significant production costs. But the 51-year-old actress was only willing to take jobs that are based in Los Angeles. That issue posed a threat to her casting in the second season of "Supergirl" because she was not willing to uproot her family.

According to the publication, Calista Flockhart was actually not obliged to continue with her role in "Supergirl" Season 2. But fortunately for her fans, a compromise was reached and she will fly from Flockhart to Vancouver every few weeks and will do as many scenes as her commuting would allow. Words have it that she is still going to be paid based on her original contract as a series regular. Calista Flockhart, known for her role in "Ally McBeal" and "Brothers & Sisters," will appear in multiple episodes starting from the premiere of the new season on Oct. 10.

"Supergirl wouldn't be Supergirl without the amazing Calista Flockhart as Cat Grant," executive producer Andrew Kreisberg said in a statement. "We are so excited Calista has agreed to continue on the show when she can. We and the audience love to see her on screen."

Meanwhile, ComicBookMovie.com reported that "Supergirl" is heading to Metropolis from the National City based on some photos from the Season 2 set, including an ambulance and a police car, and a hanging sign of Luthor Corp.
