If Fox decides to give the show another year, "Wayward Pines" Season 3 would serve as its series finale. In an interview with Zap2It, executive producer Blake Crouch confirmed that the show would have to end with three seasons.

"We came up with a three-season arc, so in a perfect world, if we have the chance, we would conclude 'Wayward Pines' in a third season," he said.

"Wayward Pines" Season 3 spoilers reveal that fans and viewers will see what happened to the human race and the Abbies. As seen in the Season 2 finale, the humans were subjected to the cryogenic pods once again and viewers saw the birth of a baby Abbie, which resembled a human.

Crouch told the publication that "Wayward Pines" Season 3 will provide answers to questions surrounding the evolution of humans and Abbies. Fans and viewers will ultimately see whether the Abbies will return to being humans or whether they will evolve to something else.

As regards "Wayward Pines" Season 3 renewal, cancellation news, TVLine reports that Fox CEO Dana Walden revealed that the network is still weighing in on the show's future. Walden stated that the network would need to look at the show's ratings in different platforms.

This means that the fate of "Wayward Pines" Season 3 depends on the Season 2 ratings as a whole. Walden, however, teased that the storyline for the possible upcoming season was "really compelling."
