‘Pokémon GO’ Change Team Tips & Tricks: How To Switch Teams; The Pros & Cons

"Pokémon GO" players have the option to pick a team out of three choices: Instinct, Mystic, and Valor. They can do that once they surpass level five, but what if a player wants to change his/her team after choosing one already? Some people have figured out how to do just that, though it comes with pros and cons.

Several "Pokémon GO" players claimed that changing teams -- without losing progress and all the Pokémon you caught -- is nearly impossible after level five. Some say an entire account reboot is needed, meaning you have to uninstall the game from your smartphone, delete all of its data from your device, and start over.

Other "Pokémon GO" players, however, have devised a way for those who don't want to go through this grueling task. That is to contact Niantic, the augmented-reality game's developer and publisher, and ask them if you could change teams.

According to FX Newscall, Niantic would only accept a "Pokémon GO" change team request once. ValueWalk also noted that Niantic would allow you to change teams if your trainer level is low and you haven't already done a team change request.

For those of you who are wondering how long this is going to take, Reddit users said the process is slow and patience is needed. However, it's your only chance to change teams without the fear of losing your "Pokémon GO" progress.

Follow this link to access Niantic's official website. Once there, fill up a support form and indicate in the Additional Request tab that you want to change teams.

Niantic came up with this process for players who made hasty decisions without asking their friends and family's "Pokémon GO" teams. FX Newscall, however, pointed out that this system can also be used by those players who are disloyal to their current teams and want to jump onboard other groups.

For now, the best way to not go through this hassle of changing teams is to take your time in choosing one after you reach level five. Take note of the choices of your friends and family so you can make an informed decision about which "Pokémon GO" team you would join.

Of course, there's a possibility that there are cheats and hacks out there for those who want to change teams. But those come at a greater risk and you could lose your progress on "Pokémon GO," especially if those are installed incorrectly.
