‘Wayward Pines’ Season 3 Premiere Date, News & Update: Fox Series Creator Blake Crouch Reveals S2 Abbie, Human Cliffhanger Clue To Dark S3?

"Wayward Pines" Season 3 follows a gripping S2 finale called "Bed Time Story" in the Fox series based on an original trilogy by author Blake Crouch. According to Blake Crouch, Fox series fans following the tale of Abbie (Aberrations) invasion will not find a happy "Wayward Pines" Season 3 for humans.

In a conversation with Zap2It, Blake Crouch explained that the cliffhanger with which the Fox series closed "Wayward Pines" Season 2 was an intentional lead into S3. However, Blake Crouch clarified that the humans that CJ Mitchum (Djimon Hounsou) put into the cryo-pods will not be waking up to a happy future in "Wayward Pines" Season 3.

If anything, the third installment to the “Wayward Pines” series could be the darkest yet for humans, who face extinction in Season 3. Blake Crouch points out that evolution has no reversal and so Abbies cannot return to human form in “Wayward Pines” Season 3 as the S2 cliffhanger suggests.

Instead, the humans led by Dr Theo Yedlin (Jason Patric) and CJ Mitchum will awaken to a new breed of enemies in “Wayward Pines” Season 3. Rather than just the Abbies of “Wayward Pines” Seasons 1 and 2, S3 will see an evolution that resembles humans but are not humans and are worse than Abbies.

Blake Crouch points out that Dr Theo Yedlin, CJ Mitchum and the awakening humans will discover three things at “Wayward Pines” Season 3. If Kerry Campbell (Kacey Rohl) fulfilled her mission of infecting the Abbies, what creatures the Abbies evolved into and what happened to the humans who did not go into cryo-sleep will be unfolded by “Wayward Pines” Season 3.

New characters are expected to surface in “Wayward Pines” Season 3, after the massive time jump from S2. At the moment, “Wayward Pines” Season 3 release for 2017 remains a projection while the Fox network susses out final viewership tally for S2.
