NBA News: Jrue Holiday of the New Orleans Pelicans Will Miss the NBA Season Opener and A Couple Of Games

Jrue Holiday of the New Orleans Pelicans has announced that he will be taking a break as an NBA player for a while. Jrue Holiday will be taking care of his wife Lauren Holiday as she was diagnosed with a brain tumor.

According to the UK Independent, the 28-year-old retired football player Lauren Holiday is set for a brain surgery. Doctors said that the surgery will only take place after she gave birth.

Jrue Holiday and Lauren Cheney got married last 2013. Both are fellow UCLA Bruin who met each other last 2008. The couple is currently waiting for the birth of their first baby.

Lauren Holiday was a former professional soccer player, playing as a mid-fielder and forward for the United States Women's National Team. Lauren Holiday won 2 silver medals and she was 3-time gold medalist.

On the other hand, Jrue Holiday was given an open-ended leave by the New Orleans Pelicans as per Fansided. New Orleans Pelicans are a very great organization giving Jrue Holiday the kind of privilege to leave and take care of his family.

In this case, Jrue Holiday is expected to miss a couple of NBA games this coming 2016-2017 NBA Season including the season opener against the Denver Nuggets this October 27th at the Smoothie King Center. No exact date when Jrue Holiday will come back and play.

With Jrue Holiday's absence, the New Orleans Pelicans now rely on their backup point guards. The Pelicans may miss the service of Norris Cole but they still have Tim Frazier as the legitimate backup point guard with Langston Galloway and E'Twaun Moore.

The New Orleans Pelicans will be missing a lot of Jrue Holiday as he is one of the core players of the team. Jrue Holiday will leave the Pelicans for a while, pulling out his 16.8 points, 6 assists and 3 rebounds per night.
