‘Pokémon Sun’ And ‘Moon’ Trailer & Details: Strange New Pokémon Type, Ultra Beasts, Snap-Style Feature & Time Differences Unveiled

The new trailer for "Pokémon Sun" and "Moon" has unveiled a bunch of exciting details about the game. Some of the most notable reveals of the trailer are the new Pokémon Type, Ultra Beasts, and a feature that resembles "Pokémon Snap," a first-person and simulation video game published by Nintendo in 1999.

The "Pokémon Sun" and "Moon" feature that resembles "Pokémon Snap" is called Poké Finder, a new mode that allows players to take snapshots of wild Pokémon in locations around the archipelago of Alola, according to IGN. Players can get those photos rated, with high ratings opening up new features for the Poké Finder such as zooming in. Watch the new "Pokémon Sun" and "Moon" trailer below.

"Pokémon Sun" and "Moon" will introduce new Pokémon and a strange new Pokémon Type. There's the Ultra Beasts, which are being studied by a group called the Aether Foundation. Alolan researchers know that Ultra Beasts are powerful creatures that can be a threat to both Pokémon and their trainers, Polygon wrote.

One example of an Ultra Beast is UB-01, a "fairly delicate" creature with "a body made of glass and movement said to resemble those of a little girl," Polygon added. UB-01 is also capable of changing its shape.

The new Pokémon Type in "Pokémon Sun" and "Moon" is called Null, a synthetic Pokémon that has an incongruent and indecipherable appearance. Null-Types, however, are said to be intimidating and powerful and has the ability to defeat even the strongest Pokémon.

Another new Pokémon is the Jangmo-o, a tiny dragon that seems to be ready for majestic evolutions. Jangmo-o has a dedication for training to prepare itself for beating enemies.

The new trailer also revealed that "Pokémon Sun" and "Moon" are 12 hours apart. "Pokémon Sun" operates on a 24-hour day/night cycle in accordance with your Nintendo 3DS' internal clock, while "Pokémon Moon" is 12 hours ahead of "Pokémon Sun's" time.

Totem Pokémon will be different in "Pokémon Sun" and "Moon." "Pokémon Sun" will have Gumshoos and "Moon" will get the Alolan Raticate. According to Kotaku, players will come across different Pokémon "on the same route depending on whether it is day or night," allowing players to have unalike experiences based on their preferred version of the game.

"Pokémon Sun" and "Moon" will introduce a running quest where players can collect Zygarde's Cells and Cores until it transforms into its battle-ready Complete Forme. The game will be released on the Nintendo 3DS on Nov. 18.
