‘The Young and the Restless” Cast & Spoilers: Justin Hartley Bids Y&R Fans Goodbye; Who’s Taking Over As Adam Newman?

After weeks of speculations about Justin Hartley's probable exit from "The Young and the Restless," the actor has finally confirmed that he is leaving the daytime soap. Has Y&R decided who's going to take over as Adam Newman?

Justin Hartley is moving on to another chapter of his life and with that he wrote a thank you letter for his "Young and Restless" fans. "Thank you for tuning in; thank you for letting me entertain you; thanks for entertaining me, and thank you for caring," he said in his statement on his official Facebook page. "Although I'm leaving the show, you haven't gotten rid of me. Hahaha...not so fast. I'm beyond thrilled and proud of my new series, This Is Us. We have a sensational cast and crew, wonderful writing and I would be honored to have you all tune in and watch."

Adam Newman is currently presumed dead in "The Young and the Restless," but spoilers tease that he is alive. When rumors about Justin Hartley's exit emerged, there have also been speculations about who could probably take over the role. No confirmations yet have been revealed, probably not to spoil the storylines involving the character. But many fans are calling for the return of Michael Muhney, who played the character in 2009 to 2013 before Justin Hartley stepped in. There is also a possibility that a new actor will play as Adam. Celebrity Dirty Laundry noted that a casting call for a character named Dean might actually be for a new Adam Newman. The descriptions for Dean all match Adam Newman: a mid-30s Caucasian man from a rich family, who have seen the effects of greed and tries to go against them.

While the future of Adam Newman in Y&R remains uncertain, fans can catch Justin Hartley in a "dream come true" role for him in "This Is Us," premiering on Sept. 20 on NBC.
