‘Super Troopers 2’ Adds Rob Lowe, Tyler Labine

After successfully raising funds for the sequel of "Super Troopers," the new film is well on its way. Broken Lizard, the comedy team who starred in the original film in 2001, is back. Reports said Rob Lowe and Tyler Labine have been added as cast members.

Rob Lowe, who has been added to the cast of "Code Black," is going to play Guy Le France, a Canadian border town mayor, according to Deadline. Tyler Labine has also confirmed that he has joined the film, which just started filming in Boston. However, there were no details revealed about his character. Labine made the announcement when he appeared as a guest for a live recording of the podcast Doug Loves Movies at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theatre's Sunset location, according to Slash Film.

Broken Lizard members are Jay Chandrasekhar, Kevin Heffernan, Steve Lemme, Paul Soter and Erik Stolhanske. They are all coming back in the sequel after generating $4.5 million, way beyond their initial target of $2 million. They wrote the script, and Jay Chandrasekhar is directing.

Rob Lowe is known for his roles in "Parks and Recreation" (2010-2015), "The West Wing" (1999-2006), and "Austin Power: The Spy Who Shagged Me" (1999). He is set to be seen in the film "How To Be A Latin Lover," along with Salma Hayek, Kristen Bell, Michael Cera and Rob Riggle.

Tyler Labine is known for being part of "Tucker & Dale vs. Evil" (2010), "Rise of the Plant of the Apes" (2011) and "Reaper" (2007-2009). He is also set to appear in "The Heyday of the Insensitive Bastards," "Killing Winston Jones" and "Big Bear."

"Super Troopers" is an American crime-comedy film, which followed "five over-enthusiastic but under-stimulated Vermont State Troopers." In the original film released in January 2001, the troopers were in trouble with the local cops and the government wanted to shut them down.
