‘Destiny: Rise of Iron’ News & Updates: ‘Wrath Of The Machine’ Raid To Hit Later This Week

Bungie has finally released the latest and final expansion to its online first-person shooter role playing game "Destiny," with "Rise of Iron" hitting Tuesday, Sept. 20, and now players are itching to get their guns on the game's next major raid which now has a specific release date.

Titled "Wrath of the Machine," the raid is the first one to hit with the "Rise of Iron" expansion for "Destiny." The raid is set to launch just a mere three days after "Rise of Iron" did, hitting on Friday, Sept. 23 at 10 A.M. PT according to Gamespot.

As part of the "Rise of Iron" expansion, the "Wrath of the Machine" raid will take "Destiny" players through a trek of the legendary Wall, the massive structure built by the Traveler with the first Titans. Surrounding the sole bastion of humanity on Earth, The City, the Wall has stood for a long time and have kept the enemies of humanity at bay only for parts of it to begin to crumble in the story of "Rise of Iron."

Gavin Irby, a former employee of Trion Worlds who now works as a raid designer for Bungie, spoke of his designs for the raid coming with the "Rise of Iron" expansion to "Destiny" in a past interview with Game Informer.  Irby explained that his approach to designing "Wrath of the Machine" was essentially "smashing s--- into other s---."

Essentially, what the "Wrath of the Machine" raid will bring to "Destiny" players in the "Rise of Iron Expansion" will be a whole lot "smashing stuff" when the raid begins. "So I guess the smart version of that would be collision," said Irby with regards to what the theme for "Wrath of the Machine" will be.

As for difficulty scale of the raid coming with "Rise of Iron," "Wrath of the Machine" will apparently be quite difficult thought the difficulty might rely more on numbers and statistics; a "Destiny" player's light level against the raid's level, for example; in contrast to "King's Fall" where it was made difficult by the mechanics instead of simple attributes.
