NBA Trade Rumors: Celtics GM Danny Ainge Interested To Rudy Gay; Celtics To Add Blake Griffin Next Season

Boston Celtics GM Danny Ainge is a fan of Rudy Gay back years ago. The Celtics are reportedly very interested with Rudy Gay when he was available to be acquired numerous times.

According to Metro, it shows that the Celtics are likely to become a landing spot for Rudy Gay, but was not able to acquire him due to some issues on the Celtics' side. Rudy Gay has been traded multiple times and during those times, the Celtics don't have enough assets to acquire him.

Celtics' GM Danny Ainge is in a tight situation right now, where he needs to select wisely who to send in Sacramento to get the services of Rudy Gay. Ainge may send a core player and a couple of draft picks to make the deal.

As of today, Rudy Gay already confirmed that he will not be returning to the Sacramento Kings next season and will practice his options in the 2017 off-season as per ESPN. This may increase the potentiality of the Celtics to acquire Rudy Gay directly from the Kings since they are rumored to make a trade for Rudy Gay rather than Gay leaving them nothing in return.

Rudy Gay is a great scoring option, a perennial outside threat that can slash his way through the rim. Not only his offense, what makes him efficient is his rebounding ability. Gay may not be a good perimeter defender due to his slow lateral movement, but with his long wingspan, he can definitely protect the driving lane.

On the other hand, the Celtics also confirmed that their current focus is to acquire big names such as Blake Griffin. Back in July, a report by Sean Deveney says that the Celtics may acquire Blake Griffin from the Los Angeles Clippers via three-way-trade with the Sacramento Kings that will send Rudy Gay to the Clippers.

Several basketball analysts are speculating that blockbuster trade can be expected in early December that may involve several teams. Each team is still experimenting with their current rosters and may proceed to change and consider a trade for an early preparation.
