"Outlander" Season 3 airdate may be delayed for a month or so even though the Starz time traveler series has already begun production for the upcoming season of the show. According to Cinema Blend, Sam Heughan shared during an interview that filming for the new season will finish around May 2017.

As most fans can recall, every new season of "Outlander" usually premieres in April, but if the cast and crew will finish production by May, this means that fans and viewers will have to wait till June or July for new episodes. Heughan also shared during the interview that the reason behind the long production is the complexity of the storyline in Season 3.

"We're doing 11 months," he said. "We finish end of May. And we'll be finishing in South Africa, which is pretty awesome."

"Outlander" Season 3 spoilers reveal that the upcoming season will be based on Diana Gabaldon's third book, "Voyager." Heughan also told Elle in an interview that seasons 2 and 3 are different from each other in terms of storyline.

Heughan shared that Season 2 had a more political stance while "Outlander" Season 3 will be "very strong, very exciting." The upcoming season will see Jamie (Sam Heughan) and Claire (Caitriona Balfe) 20 years after the Battle of Culloden.
