‘Pokémon GO’ Update: 6 Pokémon For Training Battles In Friendly Gyms, Capture Bonus For Same Monster Type, Trading & Tracking

Niantic is constantly adding updates to "Pokémon GO" to keep the game fresh for players and maintain their interest. While it's still unsure when these features will roll out, Niantic promised that the updates will improve the game's functionality.

One of the major changes coming to "Pokémon GO" soon is how players train their Pokémon in Gyms, TechRadar reported. At the moment, training Pokémon is done by fighting in Gyms already controlled by the team they belong to. This is different from traditional Pokémon games, where Pokémon can be trained by battling other trainers and their Pokémon in the wild.

This mechanic can be frustrating for many players because they are tied to using only one Pokémon when battling an entire defense lineup of a Gym. Fighting a rival team's Gym allows "Pokémon GO" players to use six pocket monsters. Niantic promised that the new "Pokémon GO" update will allow players to use six Pokémon when training in friendly Gyms, much like what's permitted when attacking opposing team's Gyms.

Catching the same Pokémon repeatedly can be frustrating for "Pokémon GO" players, too. These captures yield almost no reward at all, though they can be evolved for XP.

In the upcoming "Pokémon GO" update, Niantic said that capturing the same Pokémon for multiple times will reward players with a Capture Bonus.

According to Digital Trends, Capture Bonus will increase players' likelihood of catching various Pokémon types based on the medals acquired by a trainer. For instance, a "Punk Girl" medal (given when a player captured 10 Poison-type Pokémon) will provide players with a +1 bonus when capturing other Poison-type monsters.

Trading is also coming to "Pokémon GO." With the feature, players won't have to transfer duplicate Pokémon and they can just trade them for other pocket monsters that they want.

"Pokémon GO" was initially equipped with a 'three-steps' feature when it was first released in July. This functionality indicated the number of steps a player must take to catch a nearby or far away Pokémon. The feature, however, was disabled by Niantic when the game's server crashed due to the overwhelming amount of "Pokémon GO" users in the early weeks of its release.

A replacement system was introduced to "Pokémon GO" but it was just a trial and didn't have a full-scale rollout. For the upcoming update, Niantic said that a Tracking feature will be unveiled to service players all around the world.
