‘Overwatch’ News & Updates: Halloween Event Details, Sombra Character Leaked

Halloween, the night when the ghosts and ghouls come out to play, is right around the corner and this year they will be playing "Overwatch" with Blizzard apparently offering some major incentives for the hero shooter. Another event "Overwatch" players can look forward to is the official arrival of new character Sombra, who recently had her image allegedly leaked.

According to Slashgear, loot boxes for Blizzard's planned Halloween celebration for "Overwatch" showed up on the Xbox store as caught by posters on Reddit. Reddit user ChronosHero shared images of the Xbox Store, showing pictures of a listing for "Overwatch" for the game's Halloween themed loot boxes.

Labelled "Overwatch - Halloween Loot Boxes," the descriptions for the listing indicate the digital items can contain up to four cosmetic items for players to enjoy with seemingly an assured Halloween skin in each one. The descriptions also revealed the event's name, "Overwatch Halloween Terror," which will apparently run from Nov. 1 to Nov. 11 with the loot boxes only available during that period.

Polygon also reported on the brand new character coming to "Overwatch," Sombra, with an alleged image of her shared on Reddit. Sombra is described as a technologically inclined character, likely bringing more tech-based support into the "Overwatch" mix, with a criminal background with the Mexican Los Muertos Gang.

The status of the leak itself is interesting, considering Sombra's characterization as a hacker and the fact that there is an ongoing alternate reality game going on at the moment for "Overwatch." Sombra appearing to hack into Blizzard's plans or the "Overwatch" network could very well be a tie-in and unexpected reveal to the alternate reality game, which is fitting since it could be taken that she hacked herself out to the public.

There is no word about the official status of the Sombra leak from Blizzard itself, nor for the "Overwatch Halloween Terror" event. At the very least, if both leaks hold true, then "Overwatch" players have a lot to look forward to when Halloween rolls around and even possibly past that with Sombra's arrival.
