'Beauty And The Beast' Teaser & Latest News: Will Gaston Die Similar To The Animation? What Luke Evans Says

"Beauty and the Beast" star Luke Evans plays a recognizable Disney character. As Gaston in the live action feature, viewers already have an idea of what he's like and what's his fate in the story. But will the new version of "Beauty and the Beast," which hit theaters in March 2017, also end up with Gaston dying? Luke Evans chimes in about his character.

In an interview with Cinema Blend, Luke Evans admitted that there is pressure for him to play Gaston in the "Beauty and the Beast" live action adaptation because of the previous iteration. "He's larger than life in every respect," the actor said.

Despite the pressure, the actor also said that Gaston is such a fun character to play especially because he was able to use his theater training to exude the part well. "There's a monster that appears, and he ends up being quite the villain," Luke Evans said of the "Beauty and the Beast" baddie.

According to Inside The Magic, the live take on "Beauty and the Beast" will follow the 1991 animation quite faithfully and will keep the plot intact. Hence, this likely means that Luke Evans' Gaston would also meet the same fate in the Emma Watson starrer, where the character fell from the castle. To refresh viewers' memory, here's a video of how Gaston died in the "Beauty and the Beast" animation below.

Meanwhile, Luke Evans also revealed that he could not believe he landed the part of Gaston in the "Beauty and the Beast" live production. "They wanted to hear everybody. I can tell you huge names that were in the room before me and after me," the actor dished in Interview magazine.

He also acknowledged that before "Beauty and the Beast," people did not know that he can actually sing well and has done stage plays early in his career. Talking with CBS, the actor hopes this will not be the last musical he's going to become part of in the big screen.

"Beauty and the Beast" arrives in theaters in March next year. The movie features Emma Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as the Beast. Check out the teaser below.
