"Steven Universe" Season 3 cancellation news reveals that the Cartoon Network series may be down to its last two seasons on air. The show recently went on a sudden hiatus following the episode titled "Onion Gang."

In a recent panel during the New York Comic Con, series creator Rebecca Sugar admitted that there were struggles in telling the story of "Steven Universe," according to Polygon. According to Sugar, she and Cartoon Network had some disagreements in trying to put across certain themes and issues in the show.

As most fans and viewers of the series know, "Steven Universe" is one of the few shows on TV that tackle sensitive issues such as same-sex feelings and those that come with puberty. Sugar said that it has been quite hard to get shows with these kinds of themes on air because of advertising companies.

"It's money that wants this, not people," she said.

During the NYCC 2016, AJ Michalka and Shelby Rabara attended the panel and did some autograph signing sessions with the cast of "Steven Universe" Season 3, reports Just Jared. While many were expecting to hear news about the "Steven Universe" Season 3 return date, the cast did not reveal when the show would be back on air.

"Steven Universe" Season 3 is still on a hiatus, but many are expecting to see the show return on Cartoon Network in late 2016 or early 2017. For now, it would be best to just watch previous episodes of the show in search for easter eggs.
