New ‘Pokémon GO’ Update Released: Catch Bonus Helps Players Capture More Rares, Revamped Gym Training & Other Changes

Niantic will begin rolling out the new "Pokémon GO" update to users this week. Like what was previously announced by the developer, the update will include a catch bonus and a revamped Gym training experience.

The new "Pokémon GO" update is versions 0.41.2 for Android and 1.11.2 for iOS, according to Niantic's release notes on Monday. Aside from the catch bonus and the updated Gym training, the game's several audio issues have been fixed and the evolution animation time has been shortened. Other minor fixes have been applied as well.

Parent Herald previously reported that catch bonuses will be given to trainers every time they capture the same Pokémon type. Catch bonuses help increase players' chances of capturing rare Pokémon.

The catch bonuses a "Pokémon GO" user got can be viewed as icons that correspond with each Pokémon type. These are displayed on the game's page for achievement badges.

For instance, you will acquire a +3 Flying-type catching bonus if you get awarded with the gold Bird Keeper achievement in "Pokémon GO," according to CNET. This means that a user has a higher likelihood of catching Flying Pokémon such as Charizard or Aerodactyl. A bronze achievement (10 same type Pokémon caught) provides +1 catch bonus, silver (50 Pokémon) gives a +2 bonus, and gold (200 Pokémon) has a +3 bonus.

More than one icon will be displayed if a Pokémon has two different types. "For example, Pidgey is both Normal and Flying type. Your bonus in this case would be the average of your normal-type and flying-type bonuses," Niantic explained.

The icons will display a "Pokémon GO" player's achievement level. For example, if the icon is surrounded by a bronze circle, it means that you have attained that achievement level. If there's no ring surrounding the icon, it means a player hasn't completed any levels yet.

For Gym trainings, the new "Pokémon GO" update allows trainers to put six Pokémon to battle at friendly Gyms. According to Niantic, the CP of the Pokémon players use in battles "may be temporarily adjusted lower for your training session."

Egg and Incubator screens have been revamped as well. From now on, these items "will periodically update the distance walked without the Trainer needing to close and reopen the screen." You can download the APK of the "Pokémon GO" update from APKMirror and update the game manually.
