‘Criminal Minds’ Recap Season 12 Episode 3: Agent Emily Prentiss Arrived To Solve ‘Taboo’

"Criminal Minds" Season 12 Episode 3 entitled "Taboo" saw the return of Agent Emily Prentiss (Paget Brewster) as she assisted the BAU team in solving the case of single mothers being buried in concrete. The UnSub was discovered to be someone who grew up witnessing his single mother's hyper sexuality.

The new "Criminal Minds" UnSub was identified as Stuart Barker, a criminal who performed lobotomy on his victims and burying them in cement. Stuart grew under the care of Gloria, his grandmother who he thought to be his mother. However, his real mother is Lynelle Barker, a woman with hyper sexual mental disorder, who Stuart thought to be his adopted sister all this time.

Stuart knew that Lynelle had been having sex with numerous men, including his friends so he developed an attraction to her and wanted to have sex with her too on "Criminal Minds." However, when he found out that Lynelle is his real mother, he did not take it well so he killed her. This triggered Stuart's killings by removing single mothers' frontal lobes to recreate how he hated and wanted to remove Lynelle's hyper sexuality from her brain.

Because of this, Stuart kept his hate on his grandmother Gloria too, thinking that if she had told him the truth about Lynelle, then he would have not fantasized having sex with her. Stuart also believed that they should have protected him from witnessing Lynelle's sexual disorder. Fortunately, when Stuart was about to bury Gloria in cement, the "Criminal Minds" BAU team arrived and was able to capture him.

It was not easy for the "Criminal Minds" BAU team to profile the UnSub initially as his victims were buried in cement. Since Chief Aaron Hotchner (Thomas Gibson) has taken a break from work, Agent Prentiss arrived to assist the "Criminal Minds" BAU team. Her first meeting with Luke Alvez (Adam Rodriguez), however, did not go that well as she was also not able to contribute much to the case because of the limited access to the victims' bodies.

"Criminal Minds" Season 12 airs every Wednesday nights at 9 p.m. on CBS. The next episode is titled "Keeper." Watch "Criminal Minds" "Taboo" trailer below.
