'Overwatch' Player 'MisoSpoon' Clinches No. 1 Spot In North America, Celebrates By Calling Mom

When "Overwatch" player Miso (MisoSpoon) took the crown as No. 1 in the leaderboards of North America from former top player Mangachu, he immediately called his mother to share the good news with her.

Professional "Overwatch" players Miso (Nathan Lui from the United States) and Mangachu (Liam Campbell from Canada) were neck and neck in the fight for the top spot in North America. It even took a friend's math skills for Miso to confirm he was No. 1.

Zarya may be the most used character of Miso based on his game analytics by Overbuff.com, but the Tank hero (high endurance and excels at protecting allies and disrupting enemies) could have been the reason for the team's eventual loss.

The pink-haired Russian Zarya has the lowest base health points among the Tanks (D. Va, Reinhardt, Winston) and only has infrequent, short duration barriers to protect her and her allies, according to "Overwatch" guide. Both Particle and Projected Barrier last only for two seconds, while their cooldown periods are 10 and eight seconds, respectively.

Miso, however, efficiently used Zarya's ultimate, Graviton Surge, to trap and deal damage to enemies over time. Most notable was its use near the end of the game three of the enemies' team.

In the end of the friendly match, Miso scored 4,429, only 25 points higher from Mangachu's 4,394 points. After some time of screaming and thanking his fans in Twitch, Miso faced the camera and said, "Hold up. I'm gonna call my mom."

"Hey, mom. Guess what? I got Rank 1 in 'Overwatch' today and there are 1,600 people watching me to do it," Miso told the news to his mother.

"Neat," replied her mom. She might be clearly not impressed by her son crunching time on a first-person shooting game, or she did not fully grasp what was happening.

"She's not impressed."

"I'm very impressed," the mom reassured his son, even attempting to FaceTime Miso (even if he already told him he was streaming on Twitch). Miso then explained that he beat the person who was first place before and claimed the rank for himself and his mom transformed from aloof to enthusiastic.

"Wow, really? That's crazy!" she said. The brief conversation between the mother and her son ended as it should be - sweet and reassuring. "I love you," Miso said.

"Congratulations!" replied his mom. "I love you too."
