‘Van Helsing' TV Series Renewal News & Update: SyFy Make A Mistake With Season 2 Confirmation? Vanessa Helsing Descendant Of Original Vampire Hunter?

"Van Helsing" Season 2, which stars Kelly Overton (Vanessa Helsing), has been confirmed by SyFy. However, did SyFy make a mistake with adding a new season to the "Van Helsing" TV series by creator Neil LaBute?

According to Nerdist, the "Van Helsing" TV series is loosely inspired by the comic book from Zenescope. As such, the "Van Helsing" TV series is set as a post-apocalyptic vampire hunting tale.

The SyFy series also sets "Van Helsing" with female lead vampire hunter Vanessa Helsing aka Vanessa Seward. In this SyFy offering, "Van Helsing" pits Vanessa Helsing against both old vampires and those which were more recently turned.

Vanessa Helsing recovers from coma and is thrown in the middle of the vampire apocalypse. Vanessa eventually finds her footing and cataclysmically shifts events in the "Van Helsing" series.

Vanessa Helsing becomes the defender of remaining humans against the two factions of vampires. By her side are Axel Miller (Jonathan Scarfe) and Doc (Rukiya Bernard).

As the SyFy series revealed in increments Vanessa Helsing has powers, which is fortunate as the "Van Helsing" lead fights against day-walking vampires. Nerdist proposes that as "Van Helsing" progresses, fans of the SyFy series will discover that Vanessa Helsing is the descendant of the original vampire hunter Abraham Van Helsing.

Given that the "Van Helsing" series has a somewhat niche following, did SyFy make a mistake with its Season 2 renewal? Inverse highlights that despite the modernization of the original tale by the "Van Helsing" series, SyFy can only go so far with series.

According to the media outlet, a difficulty that the "Van Helsing" series may encounter in keeping the tale going is the source material itself. The Hollywood Reporter, however, is optimistic that the elements of "Van Helsing" will work together to keep the SyFy series afloat.

"Van Helsing" Season 1 airs on SyFy on Fridays. Have you bitten into "Van Helsing" Season 1 yet?
