Bette Midler Speaks Up: People Are Reading Into Her Tweets Seriously

The winds seem to have changed as Bette Midler finally sheds lights on her often snarky stance on Twitter. She gave props to Kim Kardashian over her statements on the Armenian genocide and dispelled rumors that she had permanent vitriol against the model and reality star. According to the 70-year-old singer, she thinks that people are reading into her tweets too seriously.

Bette Midler clarified her stance on her Twitter usage during an interview with People magazine. "I look at it as entertainment. I don't take it seriously," she explains. For the comedian, actress, and singer, Twitter is not something that entails the interpretation with the levels of rocket science.

Despite the light clarification, Bette Midler knows when her tweets go beyond the normal musings. Last August, she publicly apologized to Caitlyn Jenner for a humorous tweet that has taken a too snarky turn that attacked Jenner's gender change. While she owned up and apologized for this, Bette Midler did not do the same after making a very vocal opinion about Kim Kardashian's nude selfie.

These days, Bette Midler is mostly tweeting about her complete contempt for presidential candidate Donald Trump.

"It's easier to write a thought in 140 characters than it is to waffle on for acres and acres and acres of words," Bette Midler asserts, emphasizing that it's all done in good and clean fun. "If it amuses a few people a couple times a day, great. They shouldn't look for anything more than that."

Still on top of her performance game at age 70, Bette Midler will be sharing the stage with Donna Murphy in "Hello, Dolly!" on Broadway. The much awaited Broadway revival will be captivating theater fans this June 13, 2017. Bette Midler will have the title role with two-time Tony winner Murphy.

The multitalented Bette Midler is also known for bearing such an uncanny resemblance to her daughter Sophie von Hasselberg.
