Android Nougat 7.1 Update Is Out; Plenty of New Emojis To Help Express Feelings Of Android Users

The Google Android operating system named Nougat 7.1 has unleashed a newer batch of emojis through a new update and it will definitely cause a stir among long time android users.

This is also the first time that Google has successfully produced more emojis than its rival, the Apple iOS 10. In a bold move by Google quite a few months ago, Unicode received a proposal to their emoji subcommittee that 13 female professions will be added to the emoji roster.

This will apparently help change the traditional roles previously portrayed on the gender list. Two emojis that wasn't included are the nurse and the dentist versions because of their similarity to doctor and health worker.

It was announced last July that 11 types were accepted by the subcommittee and it would be included as part of Unicode 10 and retailers can already apply it to Unicode 9. The 11 supported emojis comes with a bonus 5 to the bunch which includes; the firefighter, pilot, artist, astronaut and judge.

The other new emojis included on the Android 7.1 update are: the singer, farmer, chef, teacher, factory worker, scientist, mechanic, office worker, student and software engineer.

All the new emojis now has 12 variations (6 male and 6 female) which promotes gender equality. It also includes all skin-color tones and when you add all the types available, it comes down to 192 new emojis for the Android OS.

The update on Android 7.1 also added gender variations on previous emojis. For example; a dancing woman will be paired with a dancing man and a running girl will join a running boy.

There is also single-parent families added to the emoji roster for Android 7.1 and these include one or more children. Political correctness is now the trend lately and it's helping the emoji numbers to increase for Google fans.
