'Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare' Latest News Update, Release Date: Why UFC Star Conor McGregor Ditch Other Offers And Took 'COD' Gig

With his statuesque physique and reputable name in the world of MMA, it's understandable why UFC Featherweight champion Conor McGregor is no stranger in role proposals from big gaming giants. He used to decline most until Infinity Ward reached out to him for a reprisal in "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare." Gladly, he said yes and the rest is history.

In a report by Rolling Stone, the UFC star dished the reason he has been ditching several offers from other game developers except "Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare." Probably what can be accounted for his big name is his aim for the big dreams.

The gig is something that never crossed his mind, "The Notorious" admits. He said that never in his wildest dreams did he ever dream of getting involved in a video game. Since "Call of Duty: Infinity Warfare" isn't just some game in its own industry, he thought why not?

Since the first title of "Call of Duty" has been released in 2003, the game has sold over 200 million copies last year and it even surpassed $10 billion revenue in 2014. For "The Notorious," this game and the industry it's in is bigger than Hollywood itself, perfect for his lifetime tenet of believing in bigger dreams.

Per FanSided, the McGregor will be playing as the antagonist, Captain Bradley Fillion, the mortal nemesis of the game's hero, Captain Reyes. The MMA fighter joins the star-studded game alongside Kit Harrington, famous for his goody role in "Game of Thrones" as Jon Snow and F1 racer Lewis Hamilton, says ESPN.

Aside from "Call of Duty" being a big shot in the gaming industry, one more thing that pushed McGregor to take the role is because he has been a fanatic of the game ever since. He said that apart from UFC, "Call of Duty" is the only video game he has been playing since. He shared that he is actually obsessed with the last "Call of Duty" title, "Call of Duty: Black Ops."

"Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare" will be released on Nov. 4. It will be available for Xbox ONE, PlayStation 4 and PC.
