'The Winds of Winter' Release Date: Sixth 'ASOIAF' Book Out In 2017; To Arrive Before 'GoT' S7 With Major Spoilers?

"Game of Thrones" the insanely popular medieval fantasy series by George R.R. Martin is now in the works. After all the deaths, plot twists, and the last season's epic finale, fans have been on the edge of their seats wondering "What's gonna happen next?". Footage of some of the cast members filming on set have been popping up all over the internet and has fueled some speculation about the plot of the upcoming season.

After six completed seasons on TV and a 7th in the making, the "Game of Thrones" TV series seems to be finally catching up with the books. George R.R. Martin's best-selling novel series "A Song of Ice and Fire" ("ASOIAF"), the book series that "Game of Thrones" is based on, remains unfinished.

As of today, there has been no word from George R.R. Martin or his publishing house with regards to when the next novel in his series will be released. However, rumors have been circulating the internet that George R.R Martin might be releasing his next novel "The Winds of Winter" in 2017.

"The Winds of Winter" is expected to contain major plotlines containing clues as to how the epic saga would reach its conclusion. If George R.R Martin does release his next novel next year, that would leave us with only one more novel to look forward to in the "A Song of Ice and Fire" series, "A Dream of Spring".

Unless HBO decides to extend the TV series, Season 7 of the "Game of Thrones" might just be the last season for this globally popular show, since all the major characters' storylines seem to be intertwining. It would be exciting to see how the story would unfold in both the books and the show.

We might need to wait a little more for the books, but at least we are assured of the show. The next season of "Game of Thrones" is set to be released by mid-2017.
