'Pokkén Tournament' Gets Croagunk Into The Battle, Surprises Fans Expecting Empoleon To Arrive

Players of "Pokkén Tournament" were surprised to find out that Croagunk will be the new fighter that will grace the game's arcade version. This was confirmed via a video trailer.

The coming of Croagunk in the "Pokkén Tournament" was apparently unexpected. It was previously reported that players were expecting a different Pokémon since a leaked file containing several names have emerged, and no Croagunk was seen on the list.

The list that was released in July did not mention Croagunk as well. In fact, several names appeared on the list including Scizor, who was recently revealed in the "Pokkén Tournament." Earlier this year, Darkrai was announced.

On the contrary, several files contained Croagunk in the list. This was shared by a Redditor only identified as BananaMuffinFrenzy, who dismissed the thought of Croagunk and stated that the Pokémon may only be a non-playable character.

His statement was proven false when Croagunk was declared. Polygon noted that BananaMuffinFrenzy, and the rest of the Pokkén players, may have underestimated the arrival of Croagunk and dismissed its arrival too early.

Players expect that Empoleon is the next character to come after Scizor and Darkrai. As explained by APC99, the DLC files were "misinterpreted."

"So, to clarify, we misinterpreted the DLC files as only three characters (Scizor, Darkrai, Empoleon) when in actuality, they had one more character (Croagunk) that we just dismissed as an update for the Supports," the Redditor wrote. This implies that one slot is still left for another character to arrive and that may be Empoleon after all.

Croagunk is a poison/fighting type Pokémon with a seemingly wholesome character. He is seen in the video trailer chuckling with glee, which depicts a happy nature. Croagunk's Burst Attack can destroy the enemy down and can also duplicate himself to send an army of attack to his opponent.

Croagunk will be seen on Nov. 10 in the arcade version of "Pokkén Tournament." It is still uncertain whether Croagunk would be available for the Wii U version of the title.
