Boxing 2017 News: WBA Sets First Fight Of Heavyweights Between Anthony Joshua And Wladimir Klitschko

Boxing fans, a big fight is on this January 2017 as World Boxing Association (WBA) declares first fight of the year between two heavyweights, Anthony Joshua versus Wladimir Klitschko as they go head-to-head, punch-for-punch, for the vacant WBA "Super Championship Belt."

Sources report that two huge matches are scheduled for one night with WBA calling Shannon Briggs and Lucas "Big Daddy" Browne to fight face-to-face for the WBA "regular" heavyweight title. This will be an exciting night as two titles will be on the line. Fans should expect action and competition as these four competitors look to bring their A-game as they step into court. Wladimir Klitschko has a career record of 64 wins-4 losses with 53 knockouts, while Anthony Joshua is in a clean impressive record of 17 wins-0 losses and all coming from knockouts.

Klitschko, however, hasn't fought for two years. The veteran ferocious big man will fight for glory after some time of layoff. This shows how much Klitschko really wants to score a victory and place that belt on his waist. However, rumors say that if Klitschko fails and bows down to Joshua, this would mean retirement for the fighter.

The 41-year old fighter, Klitschko has a lot to prove for this match. Wladimir lost in his last match and hasn't stepped in the ring for a year already. Sources say that in he looked awful in his previous performance.

The WBA "Super Championship" belt was formerly strapped under the waist of WBA heavyweight champion, Tyson Fury. However, he needs to settle to some issues of his health, drugs and mental problems. Wladimir and Furty were set for a match previously, but due to unexpected events, none of their matches materialized.

No less than Klitschko's manager Bernd Boente and his team is excited and happy about WBA's move to schedule this fight. In an interview, Boente points out how determined Klitschko wants to regain his title.

For the meantime, Anthony Joshua needs to settle a fight and get it out of his way as he faces Eric Molina on December 10 before going head-to-head with Klitschko. Does Klitschko still have anything left in his tank? We will have to wait and see as their fight is scheduled on January and will most likely take place in the UK.
