'The Fall' Cancelled Or Renewed? [SPOILER] Dies! Allan Cubitt Sounds Off On Show's Continuation Without Important Character

Netflix is currently steaming the third season of "The Fall" but the show has already finished its run on BBC. It was revealed in the end that one important character died. What's the potential for "The Fall" Season 4 without this personality? Creator Allan Cubitt sounds off.

At the finale of "The Fall" Season 3, Jamie Dornan's Paul Spector chose to end it all by committing suicide. The Belfast Strangler ended up strangling himself with a belt while in the custody of the authorities. He wasn't going to suffer in prison for the rest of his life, much to the disappointment of investigator Stella Giblson (Gillian Anderson).

With one principal character dead, could "The Fall" head to a fourth season without Jamie Dornan? Allan Cubitt told Digital Spy that he has ideas for "The Fall" Season 4, yet there is no a guarantee it will make it to the screen. He's not closing the doors, however. "I'm quite keen on doing other things as well, so it's not going to be straight away," the writer and producer said.

Should "The Fall" go beyond the third season, viewers could definitely expect a big shift. But Gillian Anderson could still reprise her role for a still undetermined new season of "The Fall." The actress has already expressed her willingness to do so. "I'm excited by the idea of potentially revisiting it in a few years, to see what transpires in Stella's life afterward," the actress said in another Digital Spy interview.

What's certain for now is that Allan Cubitt is not in a rush to sit down and come up with "The Fall" Season 4 story. The time off could allow the writers to develop more interesting plots that viewers will be thrilled to watch. The show could potentially become an anthology, Bustle reports.

"The Fall" debuted on television in 2013 with an initial five-episode run. It drew ratings and critical success, prompting the renewals for Season 2 and Season 3. Check back on this site for more news and updates about the show.
