Gigi Hadid Wore A Poncho For Tommy Hilfiger Fashion Show Because 'She Was Too Fat'

Back in 2015, for Gigi Hadid's first fashion show with Tommy Hilfiger, the statuesque model had to wear a poncho because she was not thin enough.

The casting director for the show told Tommy Hilfiger that Gigi Hadid was not as thin as the other models and would probably not fit in with the rest of the models because she was also not as tall as the others. That's why she was made to wear a red, blue and white poncho during the New York Fashion Week in 2015.

But Hilfiger was in for a surprise, as despite Gigi Hadid's outfit, she received millions of hits which prompted the designer to reconsider his teams' opinions of her, according to Daily Mail. He later made statement, as reported by Page Six, that he did not want to hide Gigi's body and actually calls her "the epitome of perfection."

Hilfiger and Hadid went on to collaborate on a fashion line which Gigi designed. The Gigi x Tommy Couture line is very successful and Hadid had traveled to places like Shanghai and Tokyo to promote the line.

The model went on to become the face of the brand, and on the next New York Fashion Show of Tommy Hilfiger, Gigi opened and closed the show wearing a bikini.

Gigi Hadid is one of the most sought after models today, participating in the recent fashion shows of Elie Saab and Givenchy. Last year she also became a part of the Victoria's Secret 2015 fashion show. She will also be a part of this year's Victoria Secret Fashion Show, this time accompanied by her sister Bella Hadid.

Will she also be accompanied by her boyfriend Zayn Malik? The two started dating after they met at a Victoria's Secret party a year ago, and are even reportedly living together.
