NASA New Toy: A Life Sniffing Machine That Will Sniff Life On Mars

IB Times revealed that NASA has been working wonders in their laboratory as they successfully integrated cutting edge technology with the most advanced knowledge to engineer a machine that can literally sniff any form of life in Mars. That's right, "NASA" is hunting down Martian life through their scent.

NASA's new toy life sniffing toy is nicknamed BILI - Bio-Indicator Lidar Instrument says Tech Times. BILI adopts an existing US military technology with a few twitches to achieve the desired functionality.

The technology was originally deployed by the US military to promote social security and protect life from outbreaks and even terrorist attack. Te Cake explains that the technology is used to identify hazardous substances and toxic chemicals in the air from afar.

NASA partnered with Branimir Blagojevic, a Greenbelt, Maryland-based technologist who initially partnered in the military creation of the chemical detector. Employing the same technology, BILI was created and its test runs show its great potential in sniffing Mars' biosignatures.

NASA added on their website that BILI, lidar based on fluorescence, operates like a radar with radio waves replaced with light. BILI's light detection capacities can then dissect the composition of the atmospheric particles reveal whether life indeed exist in Mars.

BILI will be fitted in a rover that will stroll around Martian soil. BILI will shot ultraviolet light specs from either one of its lasers. Using the particle's reactions, "NASA" can then further investigate and determine whether life particles are suspended in Martian Air and determine its relative age.

"NASA's" team of science geeks are very much excited about the many possibilities that BILI can offer. Imagine the thrill of discovering life on a planet from million miles away. BILI will also produce more accurate results by allowing testing on site, with little to no risk of contamination that initially voided many of "NASA's" previous research efforts.

The only question left is, are we ready to meet our extraterrestrial neighbors if they do existed?
