'Ghost In The Shell' Live-Action News: Fans Divided If Scarlett Johansson Is The Best Star To Play The Lead Role?

The live action film "Ghost in the Shell" is stirring a lot of emotions to fans, and it seems like everyone have mixed emotions. The story line of the film isn't far from the anime or manga the fans have read or seen.

For those who haven't heard of "Ghost in the Shell," it's based on manga with the same title. First series was released in 1989 where the setting was a future Japan.

The series evolves around cyber terrorism and global power which Major Motoko Kusanagi investigates. "Ghost in the Shell," in 2002, was made into an anime series. The plot focused on the Laughing Man which was a hacker.

Now, the live-action film focuses on what came after the manga. It touches points from the geisha bot to the garbageman thermoptic, said Avi Arad, "Ghost in the Shell" producer.

So, how's the thermoptic suit in the live-action "Ghost in the Shell"?

This is important for fans as it's one of the staple characteristics of the franchise. Unlike anime, live-action film could have a hard time moving unclothed.

But the producers said that they've made a solution. Though the suit they've made doesn't really look like Scarlett Johansson is naked, but it shows panel lines to let the viewers see her more.

The producers of "Ghost in the Shell" opted for Scarlett Johansson to really have a full silicon instead of just digitizing her character, they said in reports.

However, there are a lot of skeptics for Scarlett Johansson as the lead role of "Ghost in the Shell." Many doubts that Scarlett Johansson may not live up to the technicalities of the film especially that she'll be a cyborg in it, reported by Forbes.

Many thinks that "Ghost in the Shell" is being whitewashed by casting Scarlett Johansson in the film, as reported by the Guardian. But other still have high hopes for the actress, especially citing that she looks like the Major from the anime series.

"Ghost in the Shell" will be released on March 29, 2017.
